Article: East Hampton Design Social Pop Up
East Hampton Design Social Pop Up
In July, I had the best time at the East Hampton Design Social Pop Up at Guild Hall. It was my first time attending the event, and I was so happy to see a few of my favorite interior designers and many of my favorite textile designers in attendance.
I have long-admired the work and fabrics of British designer Flora Soames and it was wonderful to meet her in person. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her speak with designer Peter Dunham at an interesting panel on the art of collecting and the joy they find in the hunt and acquisition.
It seems both designers both hold on to things they find beautiful - whether they have an immediate purpose or not. They both described instances in which their collections later found their way into personal or client projects.

On top of gorgeous new Palm Grove textiles and wallcoverings from Sister Parish, I was introduced to several new companies as well - including Maison Venu. It seems I'm always on the hunt for interesting tablecloths and accessories and Maison Venu pieces were the perfect blend of modern and traditional.
They also have a lovely selection of pillows and sarongs. The designs are very fresh and would perfectly complement a tablescape adorned with items from another find - Proper Table.
Proper Table has an array of decorative items for easy - yet, chic - entertaining. Their acrylic coasters and tablecloths make it easy to clean up any mess and are adorned with scans of a mix of antique, modern, and vintage textiles.
The coasters are fun, unique, and would make the perfect gifts. Placemats and napkins are next on my list.
When it comes to accessories: I would take beautiful textiles over fashion logos any day - they have such a weight and substance to them (and are so much more personal and interesting). There was an antique beauty to accessories and fabrics from Casa Branca. Aren't their pareos just perfect?
Textiles and wallcoverings from Leah O'Connell design are timelessly charming. I adore her Imogen print. I asked Leah if I could purchase any accessories from her - including the basket bag and she said they might be in the works someday. Crossing my fingers.
I hope this event pops up in East Hampton again next year - it was just lovely.
