Plum Sykes and Milne Watson in NYC
Milne Watson at Suzie Kondi NYC
Recently, I had a wonderful (albeit quick) trip to NYC and bundled some work meetings with two trunk shows. For the first, I was finally able to meet Emma Milne Watson at Suzie Kondi on Orchard Street - the fabulously chic jewelry designer behind Milne Watson.
I can't recall with certainty how I first came across her line, but I began ordering and shipping pieces across the pond in early 2021. It's been wonderful to see her collection expand and I seem to fall more and more in love with it. You can shop her new website or her custom drops on Instagram. I'm smitten with her new bag jewelry.
Liana Satenstein Interviewing Plum Sykes at Nine Orchard
After meeting Emma, I walked right across the street to Nine Orchard where Plum Sykes was promoting her new novel, Wives Like Us.
As someone who ran to the bookstore on the publishing day of Bergdorf Blondes and The Debutante Divorcée - traveling to the city to finally meet Plum and attend the interview was an absolute.
I loved hearing about what a typical day looks like for her and it includes all of the components that are seemingly essential for creativity. Having structure - but not making it obligatory. She regularly begins her day with walks or riding horses (getting outside air) - and won't sit down at her desk unless she knows what she's going to write.
Swan Room at Nine Orchard
After a work meeting, I ended my short visit with a trip to The Met. I hadn't seen the European Paintings gallery in a few years and it's my absolute favorite to visit. I paid particular attention to Gustav Klimt's "Mäda Primavesi" this visit - it seemed to fit the mood (inspiration and creativity).
I had the loveliest stay at the Nine Orchard hotel. The Swan Room served as the most beautiful breakfast spot and office away-from-home. I can't wait for my next trip.
